Peninsula College of Medicine & Dentistry

The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (PCMD) was a medical and dental school in England, established in 2000 through a partnership between the University of Exeter, the University of Plymouth, and the NHS in Devon and Cornwall. The college offered undergraduate programs in medicine and dentistry, with campuses located at the University of Plymouth, the University of Exeter, the John Bull Building (Derriford Hospital and Plymouth Science Park), the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Teaching also took place at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple, South Devon Healthcare Trust in Torbay, and various general practices and community healthcare settings across the region. In January 2013, PCMD began the process of disaggregation, leading to the formation of two separate institutions: the University of Exeter Medical School and Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. This transition allowed each university to develop its own distinct medical and dental programs, continuing the legacy of PCMD in training healthcare professionals in the South West of England.
